Numerous individuals in today's society struggle with negative thoughts and unhealthy thinking patterns. The affirmation is a simple yet powerful phrase that aims to strengthen the connection between your subconscious and conscious minds. The stronger this connection becomes, the more resilient you will be when faced with challenging or difficult situations.
THAT girl journey: Daily affirmation app is a mobile wellness app that motivates users to practice affirmation, create journal entries, measure daily mood changes, and read tips and articles in an attempt to rewire their brains from negative thoughts and build self-esteem. The goal is to provide users with an inclusive platform to help them strengthen their mental well-being and progress towards desired goals.

Due to hectic schedules, people in today's society typically struggle to maintain a decent work-life balance or overlook the significance of self-care. Struggle with mental instability and depression have become a common phenomenon for many individuals. Is there an effective way for users to improve their mental wellness?
How may we create a platform that allows people who struggle with negative thought patterns to practice affirmation while also keeping track of overall mental wellbeing?
An inclusive mobile-based application that employs affirmation practices to help users enhance their overall mental wellbeing. Users could also keep track of their progress toward their improvement goals using the journal and mood tracker features.
I adapted the design thinking framework to understand users' needs and challenge assumptions as the project's sole designer.
To understand and empathize with the users' thoughts on affirmation and wellness apps, I sent out a survey that resulted in 52 responses from the age group from 18 to 33 years old.
Based on the survey results, I was able to break down the problem statements and further investigate potential users' thoughts on affirmation practice and wellness applications in general.
The result gave me first-hand insights on people’s thoughts and comments about the wellness platform. Based on the survey result, I was able to build up a list of features:
• Mood tracker
• Journal
• Article/Tips
After building a solid function list, I was able to construct an user persona and user journey to represent the target users for the application: 18 - 35 years old individuals who are constantly struggling with negative thinking patterns.
After building a solid function list, I was able to construct an user persona and user journey to represent the target users for the application: 18 - 35 years old individuals who are constantly struggling with negative thinking patterns.
During this stage, I began to brainstorm how each feature could be integrated with the other. To better familiarize myself with the design goal and what approach I wanted to take on the wireframes, I started drafting the user story.
In the user stories, I incorporated the improvement opportunities that were identified from the journey mapping into my user stories. To conclude my synthesis, I want to design an inclusive and all-in-one design approach application. I believe by integrating all the features on the main screen could elevate the user experience by increasing convenience.
While building the conceptual designs, I began to develop our branding including logo ideas, color palette, and typography. I utilized the neutral warm color because I want the product to be encouraging and approachable to the gen-z audience.

As an affirmation proponent and empathic designer, I’m always curious about what it’s like to develop a product that could benefit the community who struggle with mental health conditions. I truly had a blast during the process of research and design for this project and am happy that I was able to put my thoughts into action and bring them to life.
