OVERVIEW

What is UT Dallas app?
A social platform for UT Dallas students to engage with others through public channels such as student live activity feed. This redesign is based on the UI for IOS 14.

PROBLEM

The current UT Dallas public channel feed utilized simplistic interface design, for students to share and communicate with others. However, the minimalistic interface in channel feed makes it difficult for users to engage in a lively discussion with others.

Therefore, we ask ...

How might we build an interactive community and encourage lively discussion through public channels and live activity feeds?

Therefore, we ask ...

How might we build an interactive community and encourage lively discussion through public channels and live activity feeds?

SOLUTION

Revamp UT Dallas for enhanced student engagement

To enhance user engagement in an organized manner, I aimed to incorporate several features into the original design, including sorting options, clear descriptions of channels, the ability to save any post, and visibility to view other users' past posts.

RESEARCH

User Interviews

To gather direct user feedback and pinpoint pain points, I conducted interviews with current UT Dallas students. Due to time constraints, I could only interview two students to assess their opinions on the current public channel feed design.

Findings

The current UT Dallas public channel features a minimalist design, potentially resulting in a flat and linear user experience. It lacks the vibrancy and excitement that could inspire students to engage with the community.

LOW-FID WIREFRAME

Following the initial study, I began designing low-fidelity wireframes with the objective of creating an interactive student community. I aimed to achieve this by incorporating engaging features that would stimulate lively discussions on public channels.

REFLECTION

The 4-day design sprint enabled rapid ideation in a fast-paced environment!

The UT Dallas app fosters student connectivity and community engagement. However, navigating the public feed often results in information overload and difficulty keeping up with important updates. In a 4-day design sprint project, I pinpointed this issue and devised a practical solution. By introducing streamlined features, I aimed to enhance the digital experience with a user-friendly layout.
